Dear Fellow “Burney-ites,”

The Board of The Overton Institute has several plans in the works for this year:

·        With the gracious help of a friend of The Overton Institute we were able to get all of the Burney’s Papers digitized last year and we plan to link those to the “Burney Collection” on the website later this year.  Our vision for having Burney’s writing available for anyone to access will then be a reality!

·        Plans for BurneyFest 2012 are well underway.  Plan to join us on Saturday evening, June 2, 2012 at Shallowford Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, GA for a celebration of Burney’s work and the launching of a renewed Relational Communication Workshop.

·        We are working on editing the video footage from BurneyFest 2008, and will do the same for BurneyFest 2012.  Watch for videos of those two special evenings to be available on the website later this year.

·        We plan to begin offering the renewed Relational Communication Workshop for congregations in the Atlanta area by the end of the year.

·        And, we continue to offer professional counseling services grounded in the theology of the unconditional love of God.

As for me, I continue to hold the vision of The Overton Institute close to my heart and clearly in my mind as I work on doctoral studies, through which I also hope to further Burney’s work. I am beginning my preparation for my dissertation by reading and writing about the Burney’s Papers, and I’m proposing to present the Relational Communication Program this fall at two national academic research conferences.
